OUGI’s tourism plan titled ‘Creating Wagashi based on feelings with “five senses” in Yamashiro Onsen -New style of enjoying a hot spring town-’ was selected as a “Regional Tourism Promotion Project” of the Japan Tourism Agency!
The tourism content plan proposed by OUGI Inc. was selected as a “Regional Tourism Promotion Project” of the Japan Tourism Agency. The title of the tourism content is ‘“the story of ‘yu’ woven by the view of Japanese traditional sweets” Creating Wagashi based on feelings with “five senses” in Yamashiro Onsen -New style of enjoying a hot spring town-’.
The “Regional Tourism Promotion Project” of the Japan Tourism Agency aims to create a business model that leads to sustainable tourism attraction by providing comprehensive support, from developing unique and original tourism content that utilizes local resources to developing sales channels and providing and spreading information. In this selected project, OUGI will provide a tourism content that lets you feel the “story of Japan”, in cooperation with local stakeholders in Yamashiro Onsen, a hot spring resort in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, with the aim of realizing the vision of the project.
This travel content is an unprecedented experiential one that allows participants to create traditional Japanese sweets using their feelings as ingredients with their five senses (sight, taste, touch, smell, and hearing) during a four-day stay at Yamashiro Onsen. Through a walking workshop in Yamashiro Onsen town, for example, participants will reflect the seasonal colors and their sensory experiences there in the shape and color of their own Japanese sweets. Together with a traditional Japanese sweets artisan, they will create a one-of-a-kind traditional Japanese sweet. In addition, by adding an original OUGI prologue, participants will be invited to become the protagonists of the story. While learning about Japanese sweets and hot spring culture through hands-on experience, they will weave a special story that incorporates their own sensibilities into the Japanese sweets.
As the future prospect, OUGI plans to develop the tourism content to aim to conduct a trial tour in December. Through this project, OUGI will contribute to promoting the new appeal of Yamashiro Onsen both domestically and internationally, and to encourage tourists to stay long-term in the Kaga region.
