The Folklore of KAGUARA monitor tour has ended!

From 15th to 19th October 2024, in Usa City, Oita Prefecture, OUGI Inc. conducted a monitor tour of “The Folklore of KAGURA programme”, experience of inheriting traditional Japanese dance performance (click here for details on the monitor tour).

Through the five-day program, three participants, two French women and one Japanese man, learned the Aso Kagura performance, which inherits Buzen Iwato Kagura, and on the final day, they completed to perform a Kagura dedication, while the local people were watching their performance.

During the daytime trails and cultural experiences, participants experienced the majestic and powerful nature of Kunisaki, and enjoyed the Japanese spirit in the details by dressing Kimono and hacving matcha. The special meal for the Kagura performers, served by local chefs, was an experience that allowed participants to feel the gods residing in each grain of rice. During the Kagura practice held every night, the participants became more and more serious each day, and spent a passionate time together with the professional Kagura performers.

With gifts from the local people who came to see the practice, the five days programme offered an experience that allowed participants to touch a deep part of Japanese culture, while feeling the support of the local community. The first time of this program is scheduled for January 2025 (sales start from 1st November).
