The creation of this feature article on OUGI started by the marie claire’s proposal. After an interview with their journalist, it was published. The article reflects OUGI’s passion for providing tours with “the real Japan”. It was a great opportunity to introduce OUGI to a wider range of people, including demographics we had not previously reached.
OUGI will continue to focus on creating and selling unique tours that allow participants to experience the “story of Japan.” Working with local partners and stakeholders in Japan, we will strive to ensure that more people will experience OUGI’s tours that provide the best of Japanese culture.
The following text is the English translation of the published article.

OUGI: Discover Japan in its purest authenticity
OUGI, a travel agency, does not just offer tours of Japan, but creates original experiences and immerses its travelers in the country’s culture.
A deep immersion into the Japanese way of life
OUGI is a travel agency unlike any other. Its name, borrowed from the vocabulary of Japanese martial arts, refers to the “ultimate technique,” the fundamental point of any discipline aligned with the very essence of Japan. This definition perfectly encapsulates the agency’s ambition: to reveal to travelers the heart of Japanese culture, far removed from clichés and standardized itineraries. As a travel agency in Japan , OUGI caters exclusively to tourists seeking a profound immersion, filled with authentic encounters with the Japanese and a sensitive exploration of their worldview. Here, travel is not simply a succession of places to visit, but an experience conceived as a dialogue between a visitor and a country, based on respect, tranquility, and harmony—values dear to Japanese culture.
Original experiences
Present throughout Japan, OUGI offers both tailor-made trips and organized tours in regions with strong cultural identities. These include the city of Usa in Oita Prefecture, Kaga in Ishikawa Prefecture, Sakata in Yamagata Prefecture, and several sites around Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture. The agency also organizes visits to sake breweries in nine prefectures, from Tokyo to Kyoto, including Nagano and Yamaguchi. The experiences offered are varied: participation in kagura, traditional Japanese ritual dances; exclusive visits to temples, shrines, or cultural events; immersive experiences blending technology and the world of manga; the discovery and preparation of confectionery linked to a season and local region; and fully customized tours tailored to clients’ preferences. OUGI can take care of the entire organization of the stay, from booking flights to booking accommodations and internal transport, in order to guarantee a smooth and consistent experience.
Promoting ancestral know-how
At the heart of OUGI’s approach lies a commitment to authenticity and listening to visitors. Each trip is tailored to the individual tourist’s profile, and its deep connection to Japanese culture allows for a genuine and personalized experience. The agency collaborates closely with local partners: artisans, artists, brewers, and guardians of traditions—true transmitters of knowledge who share their culture and history with visitors. This desire to showcase the “real” Japan is rooted in the country’s exceptional richness: iconic cuisine, a history spanning millennia, an influential popular culture, and a geographical diversity ranging from snow-capped mountains to idyllic beaches. For OUGI, tourism must be experiential and transformative, capable of leaving a lasting impression on those who experience it. Building on its immersive, original, and exclusive experiences, the agency intends to continue developing new local partnerships and sharing the soul of Japan with authenticity and depth.
